Visitors arrive at Local Airstrip:
A couple of weeks ago we had Reece and Ashleigh, brother and sister arrive from Melbourne, Australia. They came to volunteer their services at EAMO. They flew into Nakuru, the town we live in, in a small aircraft landing at a local airstrip. Both little Paul and Simon somehow talked me into taking them to the airstrip to pick up our visitors. The picture here is of the two little would be pilots sitting up in the plane. Need I say, they just loved it. They had all sorts of questions for the pilot who simply said, “I don’t answer questions like that in front of my passengers”. They were amazed when they saw the steering wheel turning parts of the wing!
But the highlight was when the plane took off. They just stood in awe, wondering how that all happens. Our visitors had a great time over the two weeks they were here.Reece being an AFL fan brought an Ozzie rules football.
Reece had every intention of showing the boys of ours how to play real football. But you cant teach Kenyans anything other than Soccer. He tried hard but they just thought that ball was a bit weird. Reese had to succumb to playing soccer with them all the time they were here. Ashleigh had fun with the babies (of course, every female does) and all the bigger kids. Every visitor has to get his/her hair plaited, it’s like a ritual here.
The kids love running their hands through the “wasungu” hair (European). Reece and Ashleigh’s parents, Bob and Lynette arrived two weeks later for a quick visit too. It was great to meet the whole family and spend some time with them as they have been helping EAMO financially for some time now. Thanks again to Bob and Lynette in supporting EAMO, we really do appreciate what you have done.
EAMO Update 51 (Aug 08) Firstly please let me apologize for this late news update. It has been hectic here at EAMO with just too many things happening at once. This update is just a few of the things that have been going on.

Promotional Materials: Recently Steve Teear from Cardiff, U.K printed another batch of promo flyers for us. Steve, is the person responsible for all the design work for the new website/graphics and printing for the flyers, and incidentally is someone we have never even met! He is a friend of a friend whom we just chat to over the email. He has put so much time into the website and the flyers and we just want to say we really appreciate what he has done. Not only does Steve print the flyers at his expense, he even sends us the flyers from UK to Kenya at a great cost.

This last shipment was sent from a collection with local family and friends in Cardiff. The picture (below) is Steve’s Nephew Kane, who decided to help raise funds at his local school: St John's College Cardiff to help Steve send over the flyers. Thank you so much Kane and Kanes teacher Ms Brown. Friends, this story is inspiring, It shows what almost anyone can do to help in a small way. Kane probably went to a lot of trouble to raise the funds, and he probably put a lot of time into it too. And this little thing he has done has meant so much to us. I mean it is really assisting us to promote EAMO. Without promotion, we simply would not be caring for 120+ kids today. Good on you Kane.We here at EAMO always have small projects that we would like to do but can never do them as there simply is just not enough funds to go around
.
