We Needed a Rest:
The work load at EAMO the past 12 months has been really heavy. We have been in operation now for over 11 years and we are not getting any younger. So we decided to take the advise from many and have a break away without promoting EAMO. Our son Ben who has been with us in Kenya these last 11 years has just moved home to Australia with his Partner Talia to own and operate a restaurant. May and I and Jasmine stayed with Ben and Talia for a number of weeks and basically just lapped up the sun shine of the Gold Coast Qld. We went whale watching, shopping for Jazzy (see pics) camping, visiting old friends and meeting new sponsors that we have never met. These new sponsors that signed up through stories from friends or just viewing the website were so happy to catch up with us and even to see one of our precious orphans Jasmine. Though we were on holidays, it is hard to not do something about promoting EAMO. We met a very lovely lady by the name of Annie who just loved us from the first meeting with her. Annie is a Sales & Marketing Consultant and she just wanted to put her talents to work for EAMO Immediately in which she did. She opened the door for me to attend a Business Luncheon to share with a number of successful business people what EAMO is doing on the other side of the world.
I remember saying to May before I went that I did not really know what I was doing.
She said just tell them what we have done. I want to tell you, the response was
tremendous. Even as I write now there are those at that meeting who are arranging
a large benefit function in the near future just for EAMO.

Many thanks to Ben and Talia who laboured hard to hold a “Gabrielle's” (the name of
their restaurant) Charity Dinner in favour of EAMO. The results again was also great
for EAMO. And we cannot forget all those that helped us with our stay there
in Oz. Thank you all so much for everything you did for May and I and Jasmine.
Changes To Sponsorships:
EAMO prides itself on the fact that it is almost 100% run by volunteers. Our two office ladies that handle our accounting and correspondence are on a volunteer basis. Because of this, our Administration costs are very minimal. Because we want to keep the Admin costs to a minimum and to make your dollar do as much as it can, we have to trim down our correspondence with you and your sponsor child. What we mean by this is, instead of you receiving a full update on your sponsor child 2-3 times per year, we have decided to make it only one per year. We have been doing some monitoring and asking questions to some of our donors and we have found that most of the sponsors
would be very happy with a once per year full report. We know there are some of you that would prefer to have more than this, which is ok. But, because the majority are satisfied with once a year, we would prefer to move towards that position. But having said all that, for those of you who want more contact, we are very open to you writing an email to us and requesting a small update at anytime and any amount of times throughout the year. This will save our volunteer staff a huge amount of work. Remember volunteers have their lives to live also. We are grateful to both Joy in NSW and Talia in Qld for sacrificing their own family time to keep EAMO functioning. Thanks girls.
Please remember also, that you will still be getting these “EAMO News” sent to you as often as every 4-8 weeks. We also encourage you to write (pics included) to your sponsor child via email to myself at eam@africaonline.co.ke and I will print this out and give it to your child and ask the child to write back to you (anyway they want to) then I will scan it and email it to you. I don't mind doing this as it does not take too long, but more importantly it costs me nothing. We hope that all of you are comfortable with this new arrangement.
Please let us know if you have any questions on this.
Both May and I are very open to your suggestions.
